  • bush hog mower
  • I have a 48 8n, is a 6 ft. wide bush hog mower too large for my tractor?

  • I would go with a 5 ft. brush hog. 6ft is going to be hard on your 8N in tall grass.

  • "BUSH HOG" is a brand name and one of the best on the market. A "BRUSH HOG" is the name given for the correct technical term, "ROTARY MOWER". Over the years the market just started using the term "BUSH HOG" to define a rotary mower/brush hog. Yes, DED is right, a belt would suggest a mower. If it has a top panel that gets removed, take it off and see if it has more than one pulley with a spindle each, 3 usually for a finish mower, and a belt assembly. Look under the deck. If one HD blade that pivots (stump jumper) it is a BRUSH HOG. Three blades would be a FINISH MOWER. I'd scarf it up either way. Releibel and parts easily available.

  • Needs tires and a belt? Sounds more like a mower than a bush hog? Dave

  • 5 is more common on 8N, but 6 will be fine if material is not too high/tough/dense. If too much load, just take smaller bites.

  • A new, 6' Bush Hog finish mower will run about $3,500. If you can get one for free, tires and belts will not be a big deal and are available from dealers.
