  • Follow up 3 pt. lift
  • 1950 8N No implement on it. Right side cover off, Everything looks OK with pto engaged. Drained most of the oil and things still look OK, however with the lever full up, the rod does not push the valve all the way in. I can manually push it in 1/4 inch further.
When moving the lever down about 3 inches from full up it no longer moves the valve and has no effect on the valve the rest of the way down. I will be installing a 'new' pump from Just 8Ns, but first will remove top cover to check out adjustment and cylinder and piston. Think I need a Zane thing to adjust rod. Any discussion appreciated, Thanks, Chy

  • Is the control rod straight? If not, make it straight. Also, a worn draft plate can prevent proper adjustment.

  • You can get the jig to adjust your linkage from Just 8N's, also.

  • You need Zane's hydraulic adjustment jig (not the Zane Thang). Actually it is possible to adjust the lift without the jig. Just follow the instructions in the FO4 manual. The jig does make it easier. Doubt if you can buy one anymore. Might be able to borrow one.

  • Just 8Ns is selling reproductions of the Zane Jig for adjusting the hydraulics. I found it pricey so didn't get it and used a square.

  • Or just use your framing square and a ruler.
