  • Ford 2000 plow model
  • What size/model moldboard plow would be appropriate for a 4 cyl. gas 2000? I'm thinking a 2-14, but I'm not familiar with model nos. for that time frame. Thanks

  • The FORD 101 Series Plows were designed for the THOUSAND SERIES TRACTORS but work great on N's and Hundreds as well. The FORD 101 was much better designed unit than the previous DEARBORN/FORD ECONOMY Series Plows. 101's now had a trip function with shear bolts so moldboard damage was minimized if an obstruction was encountered. The new plows also had an adjustment lever from which the operator could control with from his seat. You don't need the coulters to work a plow but you do need the rolling lanside, also called the tailwheel, to plow with so watch for that. The good news too is that you can still get 14" and 16" moldboards for these. Any older ECONOMY Plow or even the older Moldboard (Prior) Model plows will work too, but I'd go for a 101 Plow. Here's a LINK to the A&O Manual from our MANUALS library.

  • You should be able to easily pull a 2-14 through about any soil with a 4-cyl 2000. Could maybe pull a 3-bottom through sandy soils but I would personally roll with the 2-bottom.

  • Thanks Ed. I was figuring a 2-14. What I was mainly wondering what Model/ models would have been available in the early 60's when these tractors were built? It's still a pipe dream, but a 2000 and plow are on the list.

  • The early 60's saw the end of the Hundred Series tractors. The 2000 and 4000, which were upgraded and blue and white painted updates to the 601 and 801 series "red belly" tractors, came out in '62 and were replaced by the new 3-cylinder Thousand Series tractors in '65. Check out our Manuals/Tractors library and you will find ad brochures and owner manuals and more on all of these ole boys.
