  • Can someone tell me what the purpose of the Long Pin on the differential housing of the 8N was for?

  • It was originally a Ferguson part. Ford had to stop using it after the lawsuit. The "long pin " was a common part on Ferguson TE/TO, FE series, following through 35, 65, 135, 165, 175, and 185 and into the 200 series tractors. The pin is a hinged Ipin for ease of use getting past lift arms. Also used on Fordson Dexta.

It was used by some Ferguson implements. I've got one on my '52 and use it for limiter chains.

  • I use it when mounting the 19-29 Tear Loader.
There are several brackets that mount to the same spot, so it is required.
