  • Wire harness
  • I’m in the process of restoring my late fathers early 48 8n and have several questions . Was the original wire harnesses wrapped with electrical tape or covered with a braided cloth ? Also was the throttle and quadrant painted red of left with the plated finish ? Thanks

  • No, FORD never used electrical tape. OEM wiring was cloth-covered, sturdy, reliable, lasted for years. The throttle lever and plate was cadmium plated on all N's, never painted. Here is a link to very good company, owner Jim Guarino, in NY, who makes OEM exact-as-original wiring harnesses. Cloth covered, correct wire gauges, correct color codes, and correct lengths. Wiring is USA made and they don't use cheap vinyl coated wires. Well worth the money and I speak as a satisfied customer.
