  • In the process of renovating a 9N (serial # 5222) Finally got it running fairly well, but am showing no oil pressure on the gauge. The gauge is new and there is a clear line going from the metal line coming off the top of the engine just behind the head. I see no oil coming through the line and am afraid I'm not getting oil. Can someone give me some ideas on how to verify oil pressure without a gauge? Also will need advice on getting the dang brake hubs off in order to replace the shoes. No brake pedal at all on the right, and very little on the left. Thanks in advance for any assistance provided.

  • You may need to prime your oil system. Remove the 15/16 hex nut to the right of the water pump ("D" in photo below). This is where your oil gallery is for the engine's valves/lifters. Be careful to not lose the little spring under the nut. Use an oil squirt can to put about a cup of oil in here. Replace the spring & nut.

  • Be sure to insert the nozzle or hose straight into the oil passage, otherwise you are just putting oil into the timing cover. BTDT.
