  • Original Paint Colors For 1953 Jubilee
  • I'm just starting the restoration of a 1953 Ford Jubilee tractor. Alas, I've not been able to find the serial number (yet). While most internet images show the tractor with Ford Gray for the body, and red for the frame / engine / etc. My tractor has blue for the frame and related. It looks to be the original factory paint. I obtained Gaines 'How To Restore Ford Tractors' and he lists an Empire Blue paint. Would this be the original blue color (or a reasonable facsimile); and, how common is this "blue" variant?

  • My tractor has been painted a Blue gray at one time. However, under the hood and where the paint has worn off it's Yellow. Worn and chip spots on the Frame & transmission show Red and a dark Blue seat...

  • All Ford tractor models 1948 thru 1957 were the exact same red and gray from the factory unless you ordered 250 of them then you may get to name your color. The blue gray combo did not come out till 1962. It was mandated by Ford Motor and was part of a campaign "Blue stands for quality" as Ford was having a serious reliability issue especially with the 292 engines so all new Ford engines must be painted blue. Folks at Ford Tractor hated it and fought it to no avail. Ford Tractor recommended painting used tractors current colors as extensive research showed it strongly increased their resale value.

  • This is what a correctly restored NAA should look like:

  • Color is correct but no hat rims or battery hold rod. And what’s the decal below distributor? My decal kit did not include it.

  • When Ford brought out the new Thousand Series tractors that were blue and gray, they had a campaign to repaint customer tractors that color. Also, some unscrupulous owners would paint their NAA's and Hundred Series tractors blue and gray to pass them off as newer models:
