Dearborn PTO Extension
I have a Dearborn PTO Extension Kit that I am wanting to repurpose to drive a Transmix cement mixer. I have the Mixer's drive cylinder mounted to the PTO extension on the 1 3/8" shaft then I discovered that the drive end of the extension kit that connects to the tractor is an 1 1/8" PTO Shaft. My Plans are to mount the mixer on my 8N that has an 1 3/8" PTO Shaft. What are my options? Does anyone have a Dearborn PTO Extension kit that is 1 3/8 on both ends? Can I install an 1 1/8" PTO shaft in my 8N? (Not my preference).

Re: Dearborn PTO Extension
Your 8N came from the factory with a 1-1/8" PTO so a previous owner has upgraded your tractor, and you could go back to that. eBay has a variety of 1-3/8" x 1-3/8" PTO extensions.

Re: Dearborn PTO Extension
Is there a difference between the 1 1/8 PTO shaft for an 8N versus a 9N or 2N? Many of the shafts on ebay indicate that they came from a 9N or 2N.

Re: Dearborn PTO Extension
We have a 1949 edition of the Ford Tractor dealer parts book here in our Manuals library that you can download if you like.

Re: Dearborn PTO Extension
The dealer parts book shows one for 2N's and 8N's ('43-52) and a different one for 9N's.

Re: Dearborn PTO Extension
I have 3 but will need to check PTO sizes. Expect ahat all are 1 1/8" to 1 3/8", as are most.

Re: Dearborn PTO Extension
Two of my PTO extensions are 1 1/8" to 1 3/8". The other is 1 1/8" both ends.

Re: Dearborn PTO Extension
Thanks for Checking Dean. I need 1 3/8" on both sides to accomplish what I need. Sounds like I will be converting my tractor back to the 1 1/8" size PTO Shaft.
