I have a Ford 5' brush hog and a Woods 6' finish mower. Taller weeds and fine brush get the hog. To mow a trail, I initially use the hog. After knocking down the big stuff and clearing any debris, I use the Woods to keep it short. If I need to do a small area or widen the trail, I use the Woods lifted 6-8" for first pass and go back with a second pass.
I've hit branches and debris and knocked a blade loose once in awhile. On the Woods they have friction discs top and bottom. If they get too worn, I replace them. I also keep 3 sets of blades for the Woods: one set on it, one set may be needing to be sharpened and one sharp set. Sharpen as needed when I have time.
