Mike:

I think that you did OK. Your tractor has the optional larger air cleaner (see the old ad that Ed Gooding posted). If you are REALLY lucky, it may have the second smaller gas tank that sat behind the original Ford tank and that Funk sold as another option.

I guess there are just two things that I might be concerned with long term:

First, Funk re-used the original governor but converted it from a continuous oil flow-through to a self-contained oil bath. Be sure that you keep oil in the unit - don't let it run low.

Second, Funk used a combination of parts from the 8N and the 6 cylinder motor to make up the starter. There is a housing there that is a unique part and no replacements are available. Your tractor has been converted to 12 volts which makes me nervous as it puts more torque on the starter. I prefer to stick with 6 volts and keep everything tuned up on my tractors and I don't have problems starting them. Maybe somebody with more electrical savvy than I have will comment.

People DO part out Funks and parts turn up on eBay or elsewhere, but 98% 0f what you need is available as a '51 truck or 8N tractor part. Get yourself the Dennis Carpenter Reproductions truck and tractor catalogs.
