A 39 mercury was run thru the 1/4 mile with stock and magneto ignition.Both ran the same elapsed time.Ford used dual points in the first v8 1932.Some say the ignition system was designed by Mallory.A 36 Ford running 87mph in the 1/4 mile felt like a runaway horse.The 36 and I are too old to do that again.The intake roar of dual carberators was something to hear at 87mph.
