I really don't feel that its compression. but anything to do with wiring past the plugs baffles me. Born in the time of HEI. I've messed with points on and off most my life, but this of course is different. I'm going back and take off the distributor, check the gap, and go from their. I love this old girl, it has been SO RELIABLE for the past ten years. Just gotta find the problem
