In my opinion there are a couple of errors in this white paper.
1. TSC/traveller SAE 90 for Ford tractors manufactured between 1939 and 1952.
The product is 100% mineral oil from the refinery and contains zero additives.
Spoke with the chemist at Warren Distributing the blender for the traveller brand
sold at TSC and indicated the product contains no addtives and is same oil that
was available during the era. The product is labed with GL-1 rating which means
it contains no EP extreme pressure additives.
Prefer the SAE 90 gear oil blended by Chevron with rpm label which ,"contains a
metal deactivator to stop such metals as copper from acting as catalysts to
promote oil oxidation. The product also contains rust , corrosion and foam
inhibitors plus a pur point depressant to assure fluidly at low temperatures"
quoted straight from the specification sheet.
This product sas the API service rating of GL-1, which means it contains NO
sulfur/phosphorus compounds
2. The "premium universal tractor fluid and "renew for older tractors sold at TSC
with brand label traveller contains the language on the pale indicating its meets
Ford M2C 134-D specifications.
However ,there is another much less exprensive brand label, "Xtreme", which does
NOT meet Ford M2C 134-D specifications.
This product has a lower viscosity(thinner) than Ford M2C 134-D.
