I have a pic which I can post later tonight of a Royal Canadian Air Force 2N that is much modified, with a huge air compressor and air tank mounted just to the rear of the seat. There is another picture in Wagner's book on the history of Ford trucks of a whole line up of modified 2N's with big push bumpers in the front and turf type tires all around. It looks like the row of the modified tractors is at the factory and the tractors are not yet delivered. I do not recognize the factory, but then again I would not know a Ford factory from any other. The time period is WW2 and the pic is in black and white.
The Moto Tugs were available to the civilian market in three colors - Ford gray (gloss), Navy gray (flat) and Army Olive Drab (flat). Of course, most were sold to the military, but there were some civilian sales. They also used a standard 2N hood and many were no doubt parted out after the war. I have heard that some were bought surplus just for the purpose of parting out to get the engine. The tranny and rear were non-standard.
