I am new to this site and wasn't aware of the availability of online manuals. I have on order a complete Dearborn manual set, but it has yet to arrive. In looking at the valve it is possible either the relief or check valve could be stuck. I will take each of those apart tomorrow if possible and check. Next I'll take the lever/piston assembly apart and check the oil seal. I will run out and get a pressure gauge in advance too.
Failing that fixing it, I will check the local shop for a suitable replacement.
