If I knew how to really weld, that's what I would have done. That was my original plan. But I felt like I would get a more secure connection of the chain to the angle by just welding that cut closed, than by trying to weld the chain to the angle. So, even if my weld is no good, the chain would still have to wiggle out of that hole before it could go flying. It's the first welding I have ever done and I just felt, with my lack of skills, that I would have a safer setup this way......
