Look.. this will be my last post to YOU on this topic.
From looking at the history of your posts here.
i can see you are doing lots of research on the subject.. and some of it is dubious, and conflicting.. so I don't count al that as your fault.
Here's the issue.
You are reding literature ont he subject.
some of us are technicials and engineers that have actually worked in an electrical / electronic environment for decades upon decades.
There is no need to VERIFY polarization of the genny after the polarization procedure.
It's either going to take or not take. It will be plainly evident if it don't take. Not taking will 99.99% of the time result in no charge.
As for the unload / open cutout.
Think about this.
what happens on that no load armature? voltage ramps up quick and when it hits threshold, it closes the cutout! and thus is loaded. that 'bootstrapping' ( yes.. that's an official term ) that bootstrapping is near instantanious.
that's why you don't want to run them unloaded for duration.. with varying loads, the voltage can spike.
Yes.. you can get solid state vregs.. or you could build them. I've built solid state vregs for my tractors before. ( see.. there's the differenc ein reading literature on the subject.. and actually knowing the subject.. walking into radio shack, buying a handfull of parts.. going home and calculating and making the vreg. ).. It.. practical application.. not browsing it like a newspaper.
there are various ways to handle the cutout, and there are a couple qucick and drity ways that work.. and some more elegant ways that also work.
tweaking a common, non adjustable vreg is mostly a lost art. some vregs are made to be adjustable, easilly.. most aren't these days..
with that. I'm out of this post.
do whatever you want. believe whatever (wrong) data and procedures you want.
burn up as much equipment as you can / want to.
i have a fleet of running tractors.. all with operating electrical systems.. if I'm sunch a dumb@ss.. i wouldn't have 20 or 30 antiques and modern tractors will fully function elec systems. many are modified.. or using non oe parts that were pressed into service by one that knows how to do such things..because I took the time to study electronics... etc...
