His original question was weather to spend $99 or $179 for a new distributer.
Or rebuild it.
You offered one alternative - rebuild it at the cost of $6 worth of bushings and $18 worth of points. Plus the cost of a new breaker plate
"A new breaker plate costs a little more, maybe $40" and
"I'd replace the plate (because you removed the eccentric) and the bushings. If you don't have a press, get a shop to do it & ream them to fit."
plus whatever the shop would charge to press and ream - $40-$50 if he's lucky?
I offered another alternative - install EI for $135.
Both options would fix him up.
But the advantage to EI is he wouldn't have to ever replace points and rarely if ever open his distributer again. Not so with a rebuild.
I hope everyone here has a good weekend.
