On on one of my rebuilds the new replacement water pump had a high casting ridge on the hose connection spout that prevented the hose from sealing properly. The only way I got it to stop leaking was to take off the hose and grind that casting ridge flat. Since then I have found that same high casting ridge on two other new water pumps.
