I have a question about voltage regulators and upfront I have to admit (as usual)that I know nothing about "lectrics".I posted some time back that my amp guage wouldn't show -nor+ when running and the battery wouldn't stay charged.I put my meter to check volts and it jumped all over the place.I've checked the wiring and all is correct on this 48N.Switched a working amp guage and gen.and all is the same.I opened up the fairly new regulator and watched how things worked ????.Pulled a peice of emeory cloth through the reg.points and no difference.I used a pair of plyers and slightly bent the contact on the left side and,,,,,,it now the amp guage shows charge and will when turned on show a discharge.Also after running for a short while the guage will show less charge.Have I asserbated my problem or fixed a problem?Would hate to burn a tractor or battery.OH,,and my meter to check the volts is still all over the place when the engine is running.Auuuuug! HELP !
