The cylinder heads are interchangeable, except the oil filter is probably going to be hard to fit if you try to use a 9N, 2N, early 8N head on a late 8N side distributor engine. I believe all of the late 8N cylinder heads had two sets of holes, so they would be a universal fit. Aftermarket cylinder heads that I have seen also have both sets of holes for the oil filter canister.
