If you check out my Dexta restoration journal (below), starting at photo #551, you will see the restoration of the Butlers headlamps I did for my Dexta.
The headlamps were pretty badly rusted - but I was able to save most of the parts by taking them apart VERY carefully - including the retaining clips. What about the reflectors in your lamps? Were they okay? If not, I used Rustoleum's aluminium Bright Finish paint as an alternative to re-chroming (very expensive). Although, GMP, here in Morgan Hill, might be able to do that reasonably.
