I ask this question because I have never heard or read much about the sourcing of components of the N tractors.
Just how much was made by Ford in-house, and what would have been out-sourced?
Did Ford make most of the components, or were brackets and other small parts farmed out to job-shops?
Tires, front wheels, carbs, and air cleaners were from outside vendors, but what about rear wheels, axles, internal engine parts, water pumps, transmission gears, differential ring & pinion, etc?
Bearings, seals, points, and condensers would have been out-sourced, but what about gaskets, distributor caps and coils?
Thanks in advance for your insight!
