1949 8N. I was going to replace the ammeter. The new one has + and - connecting posts. The existing ammeter is not hard wired, just an insulated wire clamped to the back of the ammeter. How can this operate both plus and minus?? In my former life, I was a toolmaker/machinist, not an electrician. Please help the ole man understand.
