The conversion simply replaces the vane pump and the hydraulic line terminations where they attach to the pump. The oil specified for the hydraulic system on those tractors was mild EP SAE 80 which is roughly equivalent to a modern UTF and the gear pump would work fine with either. The UTF has a much higher VI than conventional gear oil and would be a better all-season choice in colder climates. You will also find it nearly impossible to buy an SAE 80 gear oil in today's market. The hydraulic sump on these tractors is separate from the trasnmission and differential but they often experience internal leakage from worn seals so vane pump or otherwise many people prefer to use UTF in all three sumps.
