Yes that would be suitable but a much larger and more expensive valve than needed. Keep in mind you can always use a double acting valve to control a single acting cylinder. Here is a picture of an inexpensive ($110) 12 GPM valve with two DA spools setup to do that. The bent tube simply allows the "A" port (would be retract on a DA cylinder) on the spool to dump to the tank return port when the spool is shifted to lower the loader.
