I checked through the timing hole. It appears that the ring gear is the only thing that is turning. I see a gear in front of the ring gear and a gear in the back of the ring gear. Which one of these is the flywheel? I hate to appear dumb but I don't know exactly what I am seeing. Can this be welded through the starter hole or do I need to have it opemed. I have a friend who is a welder.
