Not sure what box that year hasbut I just rebuilt my '52 and it wasn't that hard.Sounds like you have a bearing or two gone.My bearing came apart and dropped down into the sectors and I couldnt steer at all.I would tear it apart before I ordered parts so that I only had to order once and didn't order parts that I didn't need.JMHO
