Yes, I believe the correct sequence is to remove the old lens, un-solder the old bulb, wire wheel or sandblast and prime the reflector, then solder in the new bulb, then mask it and paint the reflector with a hi-temp reflective paint, then re-crimp the lens back into place. I am guessing probably some touch-up on the outside of the reflector would be needed after re-crimping. Sounds like a lot of work doesnt it?
