I have a 49 8n with a cable shifted Sherman aux. The front bearing in the Sherman feels rough and I hope to replace it.

First Question - Can I get the cable unhooked from the pin that apparently attaches to the shift fork. If not, the cable is fairly rigid so if I have to pull the entire unit should I expect to have to fight the cable through the hole in the housing to get the unit out?

Second Question - If I can detach the cable at end of the shift fork pin where the cable attaches, can I then pull just the front shaft and bearing without things falling into the unit as I remove the front shaft and cover?
