That is about one long discussion on paint. To keep it simple all Ford Tractors were painted the same red, 8n's thru the 100 series. When the 101 series came out it carried the second Ford Tractor red. The tractors were painted red on the line with starter, manifold, carb and starter installed. Parts assembled later such as fan shrouds, air cleaners, battery and tool box etc were painted separately on line. The 8N red was not an orangish red unless it faded. The orange red was the 101 series paint. Ford Tractor did have alternate sources for paint but all matched the primary source. John Smith has a very original 8N red posted on his great site. It is as close to the original 8N red anyone could hope to find.
