Im doing some investigating on the cylinder head used on the 9N, 2N, and 8N tractors. According to all the MPCs (Master Parts Catalogues) here are the heads used:
March 15, 1940 9N-6050-B; this is the very first MPC for the Ford-Ferguson 9N. There was never a 1939 MPC. Id like to know what the 9N-6050 (A) head was and what the changes were.
May 15, 1941 (9N) 9N-6050-B
January 2, 1942 (2N) 9N-6050-B
June, 1943 (2N) Moto-Tug 9N-6050-B
July, 1943 -9N Price List this was only all the new 2N parts for the wartime model
January, 1946 (2N) 9N-6050-B
July, 1947 (8N) 9N-6050-B
May, 1949 (8N) 2NC-6050-A *
May, 1950 (8N) 8N-6050-A
September, 1952 (8N) 8N-6050-A
It is unclear what the 1949 * "2NC-6050-A" Head was. We need clarification on this. Is it possible it was the predecessor to the 8N-6050-A head? Was the 2NC and the 8N-6050-A head issued with the cast boss where they were going to put a temperature sensor? Was that the only change to the heads over the years? Was the 8N head any different otherwise and is it interchangeable with the 9N and 2N models? Finally, what was the original 9N-6050-(A) head and what was changed to classify it as the "B" version?
