If the iron field core is magnetized with proper orentation so the generator outputs a negative voltage to the battery hot negative terminal through the VR or output relay by the proper polarization procedure and the iron can hold the polarization for ten years,
why is it that some of the old manuals indicate the generator field needs to re poloarized every time the battery is disconnected for some reason.
This does not make any sense?
However, it does make sense if the generator is tested as a running motor and the battery leads are reversed from normal during the testing procedure, then it would make a lot of sense to have to repolarize the generator field core.
If the batery is removed from the tractor to put it on a float charger and then installed again, does the generator require re polarization?
